This piece was an album covered commissioned by Desert Hijinks, a musical duo. When listening to their music I noticed they were doing a lot of genre mixing so I decided to do a little genre mixing of my own. The canvas peices blend minimalist patterns with abstract expressionist brush strokes to depict the vast musical landscape the two cover. The canvases were then backed with a laser cut piece of acrylic.
Vibe Rings were an electronic device designed to connect humans in the same room as one another. They came in three different sizes to fit a wide variety of fingers and were given out at my thesis solo show in grad school. When users fist bump, they magnetically connect, completing a circuit that makes them vibrate. The simple circuit consists of a battery and small vibration motor. The electronics are housedin a 3D printed ring I designed. They are packaged in a small cardboard box accompanied by a zine that acts as an instruction manual informing participants how to use the rings. I used a special glow in the dark PLA filament to print the rings so other users could identify others wearing a Vibe Ring.
